About Lifeblood Biological Services

Who We Are

Lifeblood Biological Services, LLC, (LBS) provides critical support through all phases of medical research by providing human cells, other biological materials, and laboratory supplies to assist the development of biological therapeutics and diagnostic products by private and public companies, as well as academic institutions.

LBS is a wholly owned, not-for-profit subsidiary of the Mid-South Regional Blood Center (dba Lifeblood®).

History

LBS was created in 1999 as a department within the Mid-South Regional Blood Center (dba Lifeblood®). Lifeblood is an FDA-licensed, not-for-profit, regional blood center headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. Its core business is the provision of blood components and related services to health care facilities in a 15-county area surrounding Memphis. LBS was created to focus on opportunities to provide human-derived biological products and related services for new markets. LBS adopted the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)-compliant framework that exists within Lifeblood and applied the organization’s skill, knowledge, and resources to non-core customers, i.e., customers needing non-transfusible blood products and related services for purposes other than direct patient care.

Lifeblood Biological Services, LLC, became a wholly owned, not-for-profit subsidiary of Lifeblood in 2005.
